Svend Damhave

Painting professionally since 1973, Svend has developed a style and technique of his own using acrylic paint as his primary medium. Much of his subject matter is realism, specializing in scenes from Savannah, New Orleans, Charleston, Mobile and other southern towns and rural areas. He has painted and sold over 800 of these paintings.

Svend has been represented by galleries located in Mobile, Seaside and Jupiter, Florida, as well as Charleston, SC, Washington, DC and Hilton Head Island, SC. He has had a number of successful One Man Shows. His work can be found in many private collections with some purchased for public viewing. He has won numerous first place and best of show awards throughout his career

A southerner by birth, born and raised in Mobile, AL, his name is reflective of his father who was a Danish-born merchant marine sea captain. He and his wife Linda, with their children Mindy and Matt, relocated here in 1983 after he completed his Art Degree from Auburn University.

He has only recently begun to display his work in Pensacola. Over the past few years, he has won both first place and best of show from Artel Gallery and the Pensacola Museum of Art members show. He continues to accept both commissions and illustration work along with gallery representation.
