George P. Wlson lll grew up in Foley, Ala., and graduated from Auburn
University. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and served 23
years on active duty. This included two combat tours in Vietnam as an
aviator for which he was awarded two Bronze Stars. He rose to the rank of
Lt. Colonel. After retirement, George and his wife Suzon returned to their
1920s home on Santa Rosa Sound in Gulf Breeze, Fla. Their property
has been designated as a National Wildlife Habitat. lt is home to many
species of wildlife including nesting ospreys and herons. This is where he
gains much inspiration for his landscapes.
Because of his love and knowledge of aviation, many of his paintings
depict aircraft in various landscape settings. His ability to paint a wide
variety of subjects stems from his extensive travels throughout The United
States, Europe, Asia, and The Caribbean.
George is a full-time portrait and landscape painter. He and $uzon have
one married daughter and two grandchildren with whom they spend much
of their time.
