Local artist Regina Thomas is a Georgia native now residing in Gulf Breeze. Throughout the years, she has been active in many different forms of art. After college at the University of Georgia, she acquired a second degree, in Multimedia, from the Art Institute of Atlanta. She has created many works of art on her own but has supported other artists, as well. To further the latter passion, she established a local arts magazine to provide an opportunity for local artists to display their work. She successfully published “Tapawingo” for several years before accepting a full-time position as a Multimedia Coordinator.
Over the years, Regina gained experience with a variety of art media, including watercolors, pastels, charcoal, acrylic, and oil paints. “I love all art, but I wasn’t achieving the depth and flexibility I desired until discovering encaustic. Encaustic is a wonderful medium on its own, but it also provides me the opportunity to incorporate other interesting objects that may have otherwise been discarded or left behind.”
